The Green Loop is a concept for a linear park that would circle Portland’s Central City with a continuous path and green space. The concept originated during planning for Portland’s Central City 2035 Plan. In 2016, Friends of the Green Loop partnered with the University of Oregon’s John Yeon Center and Design Week Portland to host a design competition.

Teaming with Jason Fifield (we called our team “J1 and J2”), we envisioned a Green Loop oriented around multiple activity nodes that we called “Experience Portland.” The Green Loop would be a major asset to the Central City, and we imagined also a popular experience for tourists, so we programmed the Activity Nodes with elements Portland does well: bikes, music, beer brewing, gardening, and mountaineering.

Jason and I collaborated on the project and shared responsibilities. I applied my SketchUp skills to develop the Mountaineering Activity Node renderings and site plans.
