The Oregon Coast Bike Route (OCBR) extends the full length of Oregon, from Washington to California. Most of the route is on the shoulder of US 101, which is often wide enough with calm enough traffic to be comfortable for people with experience bike touring. But there are select locations — bridges and tunnels in particular — where space is constrained and biking can be harrowing for even seasoned bike adventurers. Among other things, the OCBR Plan identified these “critical” locations and developed solutions for each.

I’m honored to have had the opportunity to contribute to the OCBR Plan. I supported in various ways, most notably by creating the document layout, designing graphical elements and page spreads, coordinating the photos (a few of which were taken by me), and creating document maps. My involvement ended after completing the final draft in early 2021. The Plan was adopted in May 2022.
